Nio Firefly EV Features, Specs, Price in Pakistan, Can It Replace Mehran?

The Nio Firefly EV, a compact electric hatchback, launched in China in April 2025 by Chinese automaker Nio. It’s designed for city driving with modern tech and low running costs. Here’s a look at its features, specs, and estimated price in Pakistan, plus why it could replace the Suzuki Mehran if it arrives here.

Features and Specs

  • Design: Funky look with round LED headlights, black roof, and flush door handles. Compact size (4003 x 1781 x 1557 mm, 2615 mm wheelbase) for easy city driving.
  • Motor: 105 kW (141 hp) rear-wheel-drive motor, 0–100 km/h in 8.2 seconds, top speed 150 km/h.
  • Battery and Range: 42.1 kWh battery, 420 km range (CLTC), or about 330 km (WLTP). Uses 10.9 kWh per 100 km.
  • Charging: 100 kW fast charging (10–80% in 29 minutes), supports battery swap (not yet in Pakistan).
  • Interior: 13.2-inch touchscreen, 6-inch driver display, 14-speaker Dolby sound, 256-color ambient lighting, 92L frunk, and 1250L boot (seats folded).
  • Safety: 9 airbags, 83.4% high-strength steel body, 5-star C-NCAP/Euro-NCAP rating, 15 active safety features (lane change, auto-parking).
  • Driving: 4.7 m turning radius, perfect for narrow streets.

Price in Pakistan

  • China Price: Starts at $16,500 (PKR 45.87 lakh at 1 USD = 278 PKR).
  • Pakistan Price (Estimated): With a 20% import tariff, expect PKR 55–60 lakh. Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option (available from August 2025 in China) could lower it to PKR 40–45 lakh by renting the battery.

Why It Could Replace Suzuki Mehran

If the Nio Firefly EV launches in Pakistan, it could make the Suzuki Mehran outdated. The Mehran, once a budget favorite, lacks modern tech, safety, and efficiency. The Firefly offers a 330 km range, saving PKR 12/km (fuel vs. electricity), advanced safety, and smart features like auto-parking—perfect for cities like Karachi and Lahore. Its compact size fits narrow roads, just like the Mehran, but with zero emissions and a futuristic vibe. At PKR 40–45 lakh with BaaS, it’s pricey but offers far more value, potentially ending the Mehran’s era for a new generation.
